We get this question a lot. And honestly? We love it when homeowners want to add those finishing touches that make a bathroom feel custom and complete. A shower niche is one of those upgrades that's totally worth it—no more shampoo bottles cluttering the floor or falling off those suction cup shelves.

But here's the thing: timing is everything.

When Can You Add a Niche?

✅ During planning or demo phase

This is the sweet spot! We can frame it right into the wall structure and waterproof it properly from the start.

⏱️ Before waterproofing

Still doable! We can cut into the framing and add the niche, but it adds time and may adjust the budget.

❌ After tile is up

This is where it gets tricky. At this point, adding a niche means tearing out tile, redoing waterproofing, and significant rework. Not impossible, but costly.

The Real Lesson Here

This isn't just about niches—it's about communication. The best remodels happen when you tell us everything you're dreaming about upfront, even if you're not sure you want it.

"I might want a niche... or maybe double niches... or what about a bench too?"

Tell us! We'd rather plan for possibilities than scramble to make changes mid-project. It saves you money, saves us headaches, and gets you the bathroom you actually want.

Other "Can We Add..." Questions We Get

  • Shower bench: Same rules as niches—easier during framing!
  • Extra outlets: Tell us before drywall goes up!
  • Different tile pattern: Before we order materials is best.
  • Heated floors: Definitely a planning-phase conversation!
  • Move the vanity: Depends on plumbing—ask early!
